Hotpoint History

The Hotpoint washing machine Company started trading in 1911 and by 1950 Hotpoint was a household name when it comes to household electric appliances and most commonly what is known as "white goods". Hotpoint is owned by Indesit and General Electric companies.

In 1989 Hotpoint was still a sister company of GEC but it was later to be migrated into a new division of the company GEC, which was then called General Domestic Appliances.

In the year 2001, Merloni Elettrodomestici purchased a 50 percent stake in Marconi (formerly GEC). Even more recently in early 2005, Merloni re-named itself Indesit and the Hotpoint brand continues to be a major part of the hotpoint company.
